How Are we able to know the facts?

When you read the news, do you ever question if it is biblically sound? Most people don’t. In our minds, we tend to separate politics and the Word. Yet, they should be one and the same. Moreover, we need to know what is being presented is fact- not fake.

A small portion of people actively intercede for our government. Scripture tells us that we should pray over people with authority.

"Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.  Serve the LORD with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling." Psalms 2:10-11

"Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." Romans 13:1

We should pray godly wisdom into our government’s life. Politicians everywhere should be implementing godly policy. This should be our prayer. Scripture tells us in Job 12:23-25 that God makes a nation great, and can disperse it. Don’t we want each of our respective nations to be great? We should want them to prosper. However, they can’t if they do not have a God to guide them.

Will a largely mainstream liberal media be detrimental to Christianity?

Many of the Christian outlets are being censored. We know that. Many more Christian organizations have been “cleaning house” to fall in line with the new political climate. So, one could say that there is a type of silencing going on.

Is it detrimental? To answer that question, you need to compare policy to scripture. You need discernment to be able to ascertain the truth from a lie. President Trump exposed a great deal of “fake news”. Ever since then, many media moguls have retracted statements and monitor what goes out a bit more closely.

Will we ever know the truth?

Catherine Spada explores this very topic. We know that a great deal of “fake news” was exposed over the past four years. However, we need to be mindful that there are two sides to every story. This is what we hope to get across in our next issue- how to discern what is fact.

In determining what truth is, we need to explore both sides of the equation. Media is criticized for being biased- and this is correct to some degree. However, it isn’t like you may think.

When a good journalist writes copy, they use their “voice”. It makes the news compelling and generates a call to action in the listener. Indeed, both sides of a story should be explored. Many times people do. Yet, ultimately, their purpose- or sentiment- comes across in the end. This is what makes stories so powerful.

No one can remain neutral on any topic. You also can’t remain neutral and see change. We know the world needs to change- to improve for all people. News shouldn’t be fake, but we can’t criticize people for using their voice, either. It is because of those voices that we are able to get to the truth. The facts will simply reveal it.

Exposing fact from Falsehood

That being said, fake news does exist. Catherine will guide readers through how you can determine what is the fact, and what are lies. She will teach you how to learn fact from fiction. God will help you in your journey. He doesn’t want you to be deceived. Yet, more importantly, she will teach you how to align it with biblical truth.

Does this legislation need more prayer? Does it go against biblical principles? What is God requiring of me? We can’t remain passive forever. If you want to see a nation on fire for God, we need to pray. God may also be leading you in a specific direction. Maybe He has called you into politics. You never know.

There is no greater truth than God’s Word. It is the only truth that exists, and it never changes. We should be standing by this truth, and praying over the rest.

Are you ready to pray over your nation? Are you praying over your country?

This feature will be in our next issue of Faith Filled Family Magazine coming out on March 26th.
