Candace Cameron Bure gave us an inside view of what to expect with the Hope Rising COVID-19 Benefit Concert this Sunday.
Faith Filled Family: What gave you the inspiration to host a COVID-19 benefit concert with your brother, Kirk Cameron?
Candace Cameron Bure: “People are in need of hope, faith, courage, and inspiration during this anxiety-producing time. When I was asked to be a part of Hope Rising, I did not hesitate to say yes. Not only is this event a result of a lot of hard work, but it is backed up by a lot of heart. This is about giving back to people in need.
Hope Rising will uplift and inspire by uniting the audience through music and inspirational messages. Plus, despite the challenge of each artist recording this from home, the end result is mind-blowing. There is amazing energy behind it, and it needs to be seen everywhere. “
Faith Filled Family: How did you get so many amazing artists such as MercyMe, Casting Crowns, Natalie Grant, Gloria Gaynor, Danny Gokey, For King and Country, Sanctus Real, Sidewalk Prophets, and many others to join the Hope Rising benefits concert?
Candace Cameron Bure: “When we started reaching out for people to participate in Hope Rising, the outcome was incredible and even bigger than we imagined! Every artist said yes despite the challenges and the tight turn around. This concert is a result of each participant’s pure love for others and their desire to help those in need. It’s the cream of the crop when it comes to contemporary Christian music and what each artist has done from their home is mind-blowing. It is so good!”
Faith Filled Family: How much time/effort does a virtual concert take to complete? What is the setup for the virtual concert on Sunday April 19th? What kind of technology will be used for the concert?
Candace Cameron Bure: “It’s been amazing to see what this team of producers have done in such a short amount of time. We’ve put this together in under two weeks with hundreds of thousands of dollars donated in time, technology, graphics and editing. Each artist is doing a wonder on their end to sing and perform and shoot it all from home! So many prayers have gone out over this project and we are praying it’s a spectacular night and airs without a hitch.”
Faith Filled Family: How did you pick the charity that you wanted to be involved with for the concert-Samaritans Purse? What makes that charity so special?
Candace Cameron Bure: “Samaritan’s Purse has boots on the ground in Central Park, with those big white tents set up as mobile hospitals you’re seeing on the news. They are on the front lines helping those affected by COVID-19 but also doing it in Jesus’ name. That was important to us as people of faith, to know the good work they are doing also has a purpose to share God’s love.
No business, party, or individual is fiscally benefiting from Hope Rising. All performances and production work have been donated. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go directly to Samaritan’s Purse.”
Faith Filled Family: How long will the concert be?
Candace Cameron Bure: “The concert will be about 70 minutes long.”
Faith Filled Family: How have you seen God at work in the midst of COVID-19?
Candace Cameron Bure: “COVID-19 has not only forced us all to slow down, but it has shown what very little control we have over this life. We must find our hope and trust in something greater than our career, health, or finances because all of that can be gone tomorrow. I see God moving in mighty ways through this and bringing more people to Him.”
Faith Filled Family: What are you hoping people will get out of listening to/watching the concert?
Candace Cameron Bure: “I hope that both physical and spiritual healing was provided for all who attended! I pray that people will walk away feeling refreshed and full of hope and that substantial relief was provided for those in need.”
Faith Filled Family: What kind of messages can people expect from you, Kirk Cameron, and Kristen Chenoweth, Bishop TD Jakes, and Franklin Graham, Lysa Terkeurst?
Candace Cameron Bure: “You will hear inspiring messages of hope, encouragement, and redemption.”
