Book, Intentional Christian: What to Do When You Don’t Know What to Do, Addresses The Question Of What Should I Be Doing With My Life

At an early age, we are conditioned to map out exactly what we want to do with our lives.  The question of, “What career should I pursue?” always looms in the back of our minds.  An answer of, “I don’t know.” is frequently seen as disdainful, as honest as it is, and places more pressure on the believer to “figure things out”.

God does have a plan and purpose for our lives, and can either be a series of short-term positions, or a long term career.  However, too many Christians are searching for that “big dream job”.  “Intentional Christian” explains everything that a believer needs to know has already been shown in Scripture.  The book’s author, Daniel Ryan Day, defines the difference between specific callings and common callings so that readers can become more intentional by serving God in all things.

“I think we as a culture place a lot of pressure on young adults to figure out the rest of their lives when they are between the ages of eighteen and twenty-four—especially as it relates to choosing an occupation,” says Day. “As a result, we are left with over-stressed teenagers, major-less college students, and many young adults who bounce from job to job trying to figure out the answer to the question: What am I supposed to do with my life?”

Day confessed that he spent almost fifteen years attempting to answer this question, and became frustrated with God.  He felt as if God were not telling him the plan and purpose for his life- it felt like a game to him.

Day urges Christians to ask God the questions of “Why am I here?” as opposed to asking God to reveal His plan for you.  He is confident that the answers will come more easily.

Faith Filled Family Magazine interviewed Daniel Ryan Day for our December issue.  In it, he will discuss his book in further detail, and provides some insight into this very important- and maybe somewhat frustrating- topic.

Our next issue is released November 27, 2017 on our website, via our free subscription, and through all of our social media!
