“Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.” 3 John 1:2

When we hear the word, “prosperity“, we immediately think of finances.  However, that is not God’s full design for prosperity– it is just one component of a larger equation.

So, What Does It Mean To Prosper?

There are three things to note about this verse:

  1. That You May Prosper:  Prosperity in this phrase is not singular, nor over a singular area.  It is all encompassing.  All commentary notes this phrase gives the individual (Gaius) well-wishes over every area of life.  He wants Gaius to be victorious over all areas of his life.
  2. Be In Health:  He blesses Gaius with good health.  Elicott’s Commentary for English Readers notes this phrase means that a person needs to be well physically in order to do the work of God.  Also, sickness was seen as a chastening from God if the person was in error, or rebellious.
  3. Soul Prospers:  This is a key phrase in this scripture, as all things hinge on a prosperous soul.  How does our soul prosper, and how do we prosper in general?  The key lies in reading our Bible, receiving revelation in the scriptures as to its full meaning, having a relationship with God, and applying biblical principles to our daily life.  Therefore, if we want to prosper in all areas, we need our soul to prosper.

Terri Bell discusses what God’s design for prosperity truly is for the believer, and all of the areas that it encompasses biblically.  Terri will teach you not only how to prosper in all areas, but will unlock the biblical key to your soul prospering as well- because in essence, it begins there.

Our next issue will be released on October 26, 2018.  Don’t miss it!
