Can you say that you trust in God?  Would you say that you would fully “entrust your life to Him”?  When you talk to Him, are you vulnerable, honest, transparent, and do you surrender yourself completely to Him?  Most of us find trust a difficult thing- not only because it involves the characteristics listed above, but because we equate our trusting in God with trusting in people when in reality, we need to separate the two.

Psalm 143:8 “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.  Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.”

The Benefits of Trusting/Surrendering to God Are:

Trusting in God Builds our Faith.

Jeremiah 17:7-8 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.  They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream.  It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.  It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

We are firmly rooted when we place our trust fully in Him.  It allows God to take over and guide our paths.  We don’t have to guess, do a trial/error scenario, or make mistakes.  God knows our future, and who best to ask advice from?  Additionally, we don’t need to worry because we know that God is our protector.  We can have confidence that even when we don’t understand what is happening in our lives- when things don’t add up or make sense- that God is working together for our good.

God is our Protector

surrenderIsaiah 43:2, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.  When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”

When we fully trust that He will protect us at all times, then we experience the peace that surpasses all understanding.  We then don’t have to experience stress or worry, and nothing will become overwhelming or “too much to handle”.  “God’s got this.” will be the type of mentality that you will experience.  You realize that you won’t go under, nor be consumed by life’s circumstance.  You begin to understand that everything in life has a season- meaning that things have a beginning and an end.  Nothing lasts forever.  But more importantly, you realize that God is in control.

Trust Allows Us To Hear God’s Voice

Proverbs 16:20, “Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.”

Completely trusting in God allows us to hear His voice and instructions.  Our minds aren’t cluttered by our own opinions, fears, or perceptions.  It is completely open and receptive to what God has to say.  Furthermore, when we obey and trust in Him, we prosper in all areas.

God Never Disappoints

Psalm 118:8, “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans.”

God will never disappoint you, or make broken promises.  God’s promises are always yes and amen.  He will never leave you or forsake you.  You can always trust and rely on Him.

Matthew 21:21, “Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.”

This scripture in Matthew highlights the type of faith that we are to have- bold, authoritative, and confident.  The name of Jesus gives us all the authority we need to overcome the wiles of the enemy, and this type of power comes from being confident in the Lord.  This is the type of trust and faith that we need to have.

Now go out today; be bold, full of faith, trust completely in God, surrender yourself to Him, and walk in your victory!
